Empirical literary studies: The study of absorbed reading on online social reading platforms (Ringvorlesung Sprache und Kommunikation: verbal, digital, multimodal)
Moniek Kuijpers
This project combines all of these fields and focuses on the themes of narrative absorption and online social reading. In my presentation I investigate the issue of measurement by showing different approaches to capturing absorption in online reader reviews.
The corpus, annotation guidelines and self-report scale developed during this project will be made available open access for anyone in Digital Humanities or empirical literary studies to use.
